Each of these mini sculptures are metaphors for conditions which I personally struggle with. The mushrooms each tell their own story. These mushrooms are beautiful Marasmius Rotual, or Pinwheel mushrooms. Most mushrooms release their spores based on a circadian rhythm, but these guys are unique in that they only release in rainy weather, making their spore release sporadic. So if you see them, you are truly happening upon them at just the right moment. Being autistic feels very much like you only can feel connected to others when the moment is exactly right, and keeping relationships is hard. Most of the time you feel very disconnected to the world resulting in poor emotional growth and isolation.
