In all of my work, cities tend to represent the brain or human psyche. This is a metaphorical representation of the hippocampus where the majority of our memories are stored. Each building represents a different kind of memory: tall, detailed skyscrapers are the prominent thoughts, some are gestural and rough, others clear; blank buildings are memories we cannot access yet are there somewhere; resin blocks are deep-seated core memories which form our personalities; there’s one hidden block with a door: the” skeleton in the closet”. The mushrooms are the thoughts and feelings which take root in the mind that negatively affect it and grow out of control. The arch shape signifies a bridge, the spiritual connecting the physical.
