The Nest is a simple metaphor for feeling a false sense of security. What happened to the babies in the eggs? Did they hatch? Were they eaten? Did the hidden snake in the branches nearby eat them? Or are they the snakes eggs? Or is this an old nest whose occupants have long vacated? Can we ever feel safe?
